Big day out

Sunday, August 17, 2008 – 4:57 AM
After a lot of waiting on and off the water for racing all week we where out on time today. The wind blew and blew with gusts over 25 knots, large seas and pouring rain. We only managed to complete one race in the reduced visibility. It was pretty scary sailing as the marks where hard to see in the pouring rain. After my bailer broke at the start I struggled to get the water out of my boat as the waves poured over the bow. I battled through well to take 7th over the line. I now head the leader board again as we sail the final day of fleet racing tomorrow before the medal race on Tuesday. I am in a great position and just need to hold it together for 2 more days,
COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Paul,

Who would have thought that the little shrimp running up and down Fullerton Drive would have turned into this...This is an amazing achievement Paul. Your parents and brother must be so proud of you, as well as the rest of South Yorkshire! I have lovely memories of the boat always on the drive and often you packed up for weekends away, with one boat or another trailing behind the car... well it certainly got you on the road to success. However, only sheer guts and determination have got you this far. The alarm is set for tomorrow ( I live in France now), so have everything crossed that you come home with gold. You are a true inspiration -a major well done, whatever the result tomorrow, Love from Lindsey, Kirstyn, Nan and Alan Sanderson xx (19 Fullerton Drive and Me now in Morzine, France (Lindsey).
